Bag is ready

Finally managed to get my bag up to weight of 35lbs.

I've used sleeping bags with 2 dumb bells wrapped in them and then used 7 bags of sand weighed out to 2lb each, thus making my bag up to the full 35lbs now.

Planning to Rodney's on Thursday morning if possible, with backpack and going up it twice within 3 hours.

Keep watching folks!

Check out page 14 of todays paper.

Little bit miffed that they didn't mention Telford Whitehouse or Stone Computers though.

Rodneys with a Pack!

On Wednesday, accompanied by my Brother-in-law Graham Allen, we went up and down Rodney's Pillar the long way around. 2.45 miles up and 2.45 miles down. Plus a little extra to make it up to 5 miles.

I did the trek with an 11 kilo backpack (24.2 lbs) up and down with only a brief 5 minutes rest at the top. Thanks to Graham for coming and keeping me company and motivated as i could have easily given up half way.

I timed it at 1 hour and 40 minuites, 10 minutes off the pace for 5 miles. Next task is try and better the time, the one after that? - Do Rodney's up and down twice with 16.8 kilos (35 lbs) in under 3 hours.......

Keep watching!

Haughmond Hill - again

Did Haughmond Hill again today, this time with an 8 kilo backpack and me boots on. Did the long route walking slowly + little extra mileage to make it up to 3 miles.

Thinking of buying some posh socks! Anti-blister ones for the first pair, with proper walking/hiking socks over them.

Haughmond Hill

I did Haughmond Hill again today, this time i took the Wilfreds Walk route which is an 1 hour and 15 minutes at a distance of 4km (2.48 miles) took the wife and completed it together at a medium pace in just under 1 hour.

I'm hoping to use this route for my backpack training when i start that in a few weeks, plan is to go around the long route twice as fast as possible.

Photos to follow.

Slow going

After a couple of weeks of hitting the gym - i mainly use the treadmills and cardio-vasicular machines, with a little time on the weights - i have lost just under 1 stone in weight. Hopefully i can keep the rhythm going and get more off before the main event!

In the meantime i have breaking my new boots in and i've just ordered a new pair of Nike Shox trainers for my gym workouts as my old trainers are old and the tread is really thin, sometimes it feels like i am running barefoot!

Used the pool for the first time last week, tried the steam room, but it was way too hot for me and had to get out after a couple of minutes. Managed about 10 lengths of the pool though, which surprised me.

Chris - Does Haughmond Hill

Day 2 of breaking in my new boots, went for the 2.3km (1.3m) route as i had my family behind me. I ran as much as possible and completed the red route of about 45mins as it says in 20 minutes. Which isn't too bad.

Next time i go i hope to do the longer 4.5km (2.7m) course.

Weather today was too hot at 8.30am to run too fast, even under the shade offered by the trees, well done to my 12 year old niece for keeping for up with me.

Membership Forms returned

Many thanks to the Telford Whitehouse Gym for allowing our group free access to their gym and swimming facilities. A special mention to Mark Beamson for arranging this.

I took several of the completed forms in and we are looking forward to having our induction training on Monday 24th May, with membership cards on there way.
